When
Hollywood wants to suggest Southern charm it often looks
no further than the city of Beaufort which epitomizes the
"ideal" southern coastal town with its gracious
antebellum homes, sweeping marshes, languid tidal rivers
and giant live oaks dripping with Spanish moss.
In 2011 Beaufort will celebrate its 300th anniversary -
and the attributes that drew European settlers to this area
three centuries ago - deep protected waters and high bluffs
with cooling southern breezes off the Atlantic Ocean --
are as compelling today as they were then.
Yet, Beaufort's real charm lies in its warm hospitality
and unique balance of fun and refinement as exemplified
in its fabulous festivals and fine dining. The residences
of 700 Bay Street are at the heart of it all.
